What's Cyberpunk? Is it the same as Sci-Fi?
Cyberpunk is a sub-genre of Sci-Fi, same as high fantasy would be a sub-genre of the broader umbrella of Fantasy. Cyberpunk features advanced technology in dystopian or broken societies, usually described as "high tech and low life." You can read more about cyberpunk here.
What is Alterna and who created it?
To put it simply, Alterna as it exists in the game-world is a video game that is making quite an uproar in hacker circles. Most people don't know anything about it, and could probably care less, but for some, it is the next big thing. The game itself comes in the form of a disc very clearly labeled with the SnowScan logo.
Can you leave the city?
The short answer is no. Characters are unable to go beyond the city bounds, however certain employees of SnowScan Corp. are permitted access outside, as well as city officials that oversee trade and communication.
Jobs? Salary?
Jobs are scattered throughout the city. All one needs to do is send out their resume and show some interest in whatever field they like. Some jobs will be awarded to your character that you will like, and some of them you won't really appreciate. A Salary will also be designated to you when you are accepted for a job. You can apply for as many or as few as you want. However, the more you apply for, the more options you may have in the end. Your salary will not be disclosed until you accept your job.
If you are under the age of 18, some jobs may be restricted to you. Because the City of West recognizes this, they are willing to pay your character 65 credits a month if they are unemployed.
Does my character have to pay rent?
No. The city government owns all the housing complexes in the city, and board is free for all individuals.
Why would we need money if we don't have to pay for housing?
Many reasons. Food isn't free, clothes aren't free, transportation isn't free. Everything around you still has a cost. Feel like building up on that already impressive RAM? Go for it. Going out on a fancy date? Now you'll have the money to do it. Keep in mind, if you do not have a job, you will not have money. Unless you can give us some sort of IC reason that isn't overused.
What are logs supposed to look like?
Characters: (Names AND journals)
Warnings: (Violence, language, etc. You're free to put a rating instead if you like)
Status: (Completed/In progress ?)
Time/Day: ( Remember that 1 day in-character equals three real-life days )
This is where the text of the log would go. Remember to put it behind an LJ cut!
I have a suggestion/question about the game/events/plot!
Great! Drop us a line and we'll see what we can do. Don't be afraid to talk to us via IM, as well, we don't bite.
